Adult Improv Classes

All classes meet once a week, for two hours, unless otherwise noted (i.e.: summer camp or an immersion course). Most courses are 7 weeks long with a showcase on the 8th week.

Nope, not the big ones! Holidays observed by the Training Center include: Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. Depending on the day of the week your class is scheduled, a make-up may be scheduled.

In order to encourage AICs philosophy of commitment to a group and an ensemble, students are allowed to miss no more than two classes in each 7-week session (You may make up a class).

If you weren't able to make them up during that term and are wanting to move on to the next Level, you'll need to re-take that Level.

Most of our classes are currently held at The Colourfield (54 Ravenscroft Drive,
Asheville, NC 28801) unless otherwise stated.

Nope. We do not allow auditing of our classes. However, we do have a free improv jam the last Thursday of every month from 7:30-10:00 pm where you can learn more about our improv program. Potential students are also encouraged to check out shows and showcases to see if it is something they might be interested in. Most of our performers are graduates of our Training Center.

Classes are posted on a rolling basis and registration is ongoing. If you do not see a date or time for a class that works for you, check back in a few weeks or contact us directly! All our classes are listed on the Classes tab of this website.

Depending on where classes are held, plenty of parking options will be available and communicated to students. 

Each class participates in a showcase, which will be scheduled for the last week of classes. Showcases are scheduled and shared with instructors once the term has begun, typically in the 2nd or 3rd week of classes. If you know you might have a conflict with a potential showcase date, please share this with your instructor as soon as possible. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to work around all of our students’ schedules, we do try to accommodate as best we can when scheduling showcases if given advance notice.

Yes. All improv students, regardless of prior experience, begin with Improv Level 1.

Absolutely! Our classes are geared toward students of all experience levels.

Besides mastering long-form Improv? While enrolled in classes, students are granted free admission to all student showcases and all AIC improve shows, unless otherwise stated. Students also receive a 10% discount at High Five Coffee (you’ll have to show your student ID at check-out to receive the discount).

This February will be the officially kick-off of our Youth Classes. Check back as we will be adding plenty more in 2019!
