AIC Youth Improv Workshops and Summer Camp!

The Asheville Improv Collective is very excited to present Youth Improv Workshops – Creating Characters, Stand-up and Creating Worlds on Stage all grounded in the form of improvisation and taught by our talented and professional instructors! Details on each below!

Youth Improv Workshop: Creating Worlds Onstage with Improv/Pantomime and Object work
AGES: 8-14
WHEN: Saturday, June 16th (1pm – 4pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801

Come learn the art of pantomime and create visually engaging worlds on stage through object work, physicalization of characters and scene painting, all grounded in the form of improvisation. Students will become actors, writers and scenic artists, all rolled into one, as they find unique ways to communicate with an audience.


Youth Improv Workshop: Stand-Up Comedy
AGES: 8-14
WHEN: Saturday, July 14 (1pm – 4pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801

In this Stand-Up Comedy workshop, students will learn to find the balance between humor and humility, as they craft bits and stories. The work will all be grounded in the form of improvisation, and students will be encouraged to find the truth in their comedy as they discover their own unique voices and perspectives.


Youth Improv Workshop: Creating Characters
AGES: 8-14
WHEN: Saturday, August 18 (1pm – 4pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801

Using the tools of voice, posture, gesture and facial expression, students will learn to create unforgettable characters through the art of improvisation. Through group games, scene work and solo work, each student will bring characters to life in an instant!

CAMP


AIC Improv Summer Camp (Morning)
AGES: 6-9
WHEN: August 6th – 10th (9am – 12:30pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801

*Full week and single day options available
**Early drop-off and late pick-up available, as needed
Students will learn techniques for creating characters and scenes, pantomime/object work, “writing” in the moment, and working as an ensemble. Improv is a great tool for increasing confidence, creativity and collaboration, and students are in store for a fun and engaging week!

AIC Improv Summer Camp (Afternoon)
AGES: 10-14
WHEN: August 6th – 10th (1:30pm – 5pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801
