Monroe & Moyer: Sisters From Another Mister Improv!
WHEN: Friday, May 18 (8:00pm), Saturday, May 19 (7:00pm & 9:00pm)
WHERE: Habitat Tavern & Commons, 174 Broadway St, Asheville, NC 28801

Headliners Maribeth Monroe and Jaime Moyer have performed their two man improv show at theaters all over the country, including headlining spots at The Dallas Comedy Festival, Femprov Fest, Big City Improv Festival and Out of Bounds. Combined they have over 25 years of improv experience, which is weird because they’re both just 21 years old! Their show is fast paced and character-driven, inspired by only one audience suggestion that takes the audience on a 45-minute runaway train of high energy antics. They know each other’s play like the back of their hands and play to each other’s strengths, so they perform like two besties trying to make each other laugh!

Opening for Jaime and Maribeth’s Friday night show is You, Me & Them, the Asheville Improv Collective’s house troupe comprised of AIC’s teaching staff, who all just happen to be some of Asheville’s most fun and dynamic improvisors.

On Saturday, the ladies will perform two shows! The Cardigan Club — 3 men, one lucky cardigan — will open the early show with Family Dinner, Asheville’s ONLY all female improv troupe, opening the late one.

Acting Out: A Working Actress’s Life in Hollywood. A Lively Lecture with Maribeth Monroe
WHEN: Saturday, May 19 (11:00am – 1:00pm)
WHERE: The Magnetic Theatre, 375 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801

Maribeth has been a working actress in Los Angeles for the past 12 years. In her lecture, she will share with you how improvisation has played a key role in her journey from college theatre major, to mainstage Second City actor, to writer, to series regular on Comedy Central’s breakout hit Workaholics and beyond. She still improvises on a weekly basis in LA and tours the country performing and teaching improvisation because Maribeth believes her passion for improv has kept her positive, creative, and happily motivated despite how difficult the television industry can be….especially towards women. There will be a 30 minute question and answer period following her lecture so any questions you may have, she will be happy to answer.

Ladies Love Improv
WHEN: Saturday, May 19 (12:00-2:00pm)
WHERE: Habitat Tavern & Commons, 174 Broadway St, Asheville, NC 28801

This workshop is for the ladies only, sorry fellas! We will work on strong initiations, committing to characters, and extreme yes, and…. A must for the improviser who finds herself constantly playing mom or wife (or both at once, eww).

Exploring Two Person Improv
WHEN: Saturday, May 19 (3:00-5:00pm)
WHERE: Habitat Tavern & Commons, 174 Broadway St, Asheville, NC 28801

In this workshop Maribeth Monroe and Jaime Moyer (of Moyer & Monroe) will explore different long-form improv methods being pared down to possible two person improv forms. There will be lots of feedback, work on edits, and pace. This is a must if you’d like to develop your own potential two person improv show!
